HISTORY
VALIADIS & Co. Ltd., was founded on year 1927 from Valiadis Bros., who built the first factory in Greece for the manufacturing of electric motors. It constitutes as a company the oldest one in its objective in the Greek area, playing always a leading role, since when was founded, till nowadays on the specific branch of the Greek and Balkan market.
1927 – 1945
1945 – 1965
Following the Second World War, the company adapted to the growing dominance of alternating current technology and began manufacturing both slip-ring and squirrel-cage induction motors. In 1949, Valiadis undertook the production and successful delivery of an 850 HP motor to the Water Supply Company, demonstrating its increasing capability in high-power applications. By 1956, the company had further enhanced its product range with the introduction of totally enclosed motors, improving durability and protection in demanding environments.
1965 – 1980
With international standards becoming increasingly important, Valiadis aligned its production with IEC-DIN norms in 1965, ensuring global compatibility and quality. This period also saw the introduction of monoblock pump sets, broadening its portfolio beyond motors alone. In the following decade, the company reinforced its expertise in specialized motors, launching its first explosion-proof Ex series in 1975. By 1979, lightweight aluminum frames were introduced for motors up to 7.5 kW, while cast iron frames were still maintained. The momentum continued into 1980 with the design and production of hollow shaft motors and the successful delivery of complete geared electric motors, marking a further step in providing integrated solutions.
1980 – 1995
As the industry evolved, Valiadis invested in advanced motor control technologies, laying the groundwork for future automation solutions. In 1995, the company expanded its activities by distributing and servicing LG (LS Industrial) Systems converters, adding a new dimension to its portfolio with inverter and drive technologies. This move signaled a shift toward intelligent motor control, efficiency optimization, and enhanced performance for various industrial applications.
1996 – 2005
The late 1990s and early 2000s were marked by a strong emphasis on quality assurance and global market positioning. In 1996, Valiadis achieved ISO-9002 certification, reinforcing its commitment to manufacturing excellence. A year later, its products became CE-certified, and the company upgraded to ISO 9001 under TÜV certification, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards. By 2000, the company delivered its first driven AC motors, further expanding its presence in high-performance applications. In 2002, the explosion-proof motor line obtained ATEX certification, cementing Valiadis’ reputation as a trusted supplier of certified, high-safety motors.
2008 – 2015
Building on decades of experience, Valiadis expanded its services beyond manufacturing to include specialized solutions for the maritime sector. In 2008, the company introduced on-board servicing and generator repair, offering essential maintenance and replacement services for vessels worldwide. This development allowed Valiadis to further establish itself as a key player in the shipping industry, providing reliable and efficient motor solutions across different fleet types.
2019 – 2025
In response to growing demands for energy efficiency and sustainability, Valiadis introduced its premium efficiency motor line in 2019, achieving ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. To support increasing production needs, a dedicated painting chamber was added in 2020, enhancing the quality and durability of motor finishes. This commitment to continuous improvement culminated in a major factory upgrade in 2021, reinforcing the company’s position as an industry leader equipped to meet the evolving demands of modern motor technology.
