Motor Protection Sensors – Triple Sensor Configuration

Temperature monitoring is an essential aspect of electric motor protection — especially in systems operating under continuous or overload conditions. PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermistors provide fast, reliable temperature feedback, helping prevent winding overheating and ensuring safe shutdown before damage occurs.

Valiadis S.A. supplies triple sensor PTC thermistors conforming to DIN 44082, suitable for integration into motor windings. Built using EPCOS B59300 series elements, these sensors offer stable, repeatable triggering at defined temperature thresholds.

Applications

• Thermal protection of windings
• Overtemperature limit control
• Embedded sensor installation in AC motors
• Predictive maintenance systems

Key Features
  • Triple thermistor sensors, factory-calibrated

  • Threshold temperatures from 60°C to 190°C

  • Rapid thermal response: <3 seconds

  • Insulated sensor body with Teflon-coated AWG26 leads

  • Color-coded leads for easy identification (DIN 44081 standard)

  • RoHS-compatible, UL 1434 approved

  • Maximum operating voltage: 30 VDC

  • High insulation resistance: ≥2.5 kVAC test voltage

These PTC sensors are typically installed directly in the motor windings and connected to a temperature relay. When the predefined limit temperature is reached, the sensor’s resistance increases sharply — triggering a shutdown or alarm. This early warning helps reduce unplanned downtime, extend motor life, and ensure compliance with modern safety requirements.
