Rewinding a Frame 400 Motor

Frame 400 Motor

Rewinding a Frame 400 Motor — Precision in Every Layer

Just completed the full rewinding of a Frame 400 electric motor, following a structured sequence of burn-off, insulation preparation, rewinding, and final impregnation. Motors of this size — with a shaft height of 400 mm — are typically used in high-load industrial environments, such as pumping stations, marine propulsion, or process systems requiring continuous, high-power duty cycles.

Process Overview

  • Burn-off phase: All existing insulation and external paint was removed in our controlled burn-off oven, leaving surfaces impeccably clean and fully prepared for reassembly
  • Rewinding: New coils were formed and inserted with precision, respecting slot geometry and thermal design constraints
  • VPI treatment: A full Vacuum Pressure Impregnation cycle ensured complete resin penetration for maximum insulation life and thermal protection
  • Final stage: Taping, slot wedges, varnish, and mechanical reassembly under standard IEC tolerances

From the Inside Out

The detail visible in the stator image reflects what we value in every repair:

  • Material integrity
  • Thermal resilience
  • Mechanical alignment
  • Long-term reliability

In high-power motors, rewinding isn’t just repair — it’s recovery of value, performance, and uptime.

Two K Series to Uruguay

Two K Series to Uruguay

Rapid Delivery: Two K Series Cast Iron Motors to Uruguay

We recently completed the manufacture and dispatch of two special-purpose cast iron motors, frame sizes 355 and 400, in record time — just one week from order to shipment.

The units were produced to meet an urgent operational need at a port facility in Uruguay, where installation was scheduled to take place immediately upon arrival. The request called not only for power and structural reliability, but for speed — and our team delivered.

Built on the K Series Platform

These motors belong to our K Series product line — known for its heavy-duty cast iron housing, high protection class, and robust thermal design. Commonly used in pumps, blowers, gearboxes, and marine-duty applications, K Series motors combine durability with engineering flexibility.

Key features:

  • Frame sizes: 355 and 400

  • Protection degree: IP55

  • Insulation class F (with 80°C temp. rise limit)

  • SKF or NSK bearings with regreasing options

  • PTC thermistors in windings

  • Heavy cast iron frame with integrated feet

Both units were customized for export and prepared for immediate integration into a critical logistics chain.

A warm thank-you to our production and logistics teams — once again demonstrating that with the right expertise and coordination, impossible deadlines become real solutions.

12 Vertical Hollow Shaft Motors
Supporting Energy Efficiency in Water Management

We have successfully completed the manufacturing and delivery of twelve vertical hollow-shaft electric motors, specially engineered for use in deep well pumping stations as part of a large-scale energy upgrade project.

These motors were designed and built to combine mechanical reliability with energy efficiency, supporting the transition toward more sustainable water infrastructure.

Technical Highlights
  • Frame sizes: IEC 160 to IEC 280

  • Protection: IP55, with insulation class F (temperature rise limited to 80°C)

  • Bearings: Heavy-duty thrust bearing on top, oil-lubricated DE bearing for smooth operation

  • Winding protection: PTC thermistors included, PT100 available on request

  • Custom engineering: All 12 units built according to NEMA Premium Efficiency guidelines

  • Mechanical upgrade: Ratchets constructed with ball mechanisms instead of pins for greater durability and operational reliability

These motors are built for vertical installation in deep well applications, combining structural robustness with continuous performance — especially where axial load and thermal stability are critical.

This project reflects not only our technical capacity, but also our ongoing commitment to providing solutions where efficiency, reliability, and engineering precision align.

A Day in Motion — Dispatch from Athens Facility

At our Athens facility, motion is part of the daily rhythm. Forklifts navigate the yard, lifting, aligning, and loading. Heavy-duty electric motors — carefully packaged, documented, and assigned — move from the production area to outgoing trucks.

Each dispatch is more than a shipment. It’s the closing step of a process that begins with precision manufacturing and ends with reliable installation at its final destination. Behind every unit, there’s a project advancing, a team preparing, a system in motion.

Operations unfold steadily. Hands work in sync. The yard hums with purposeful tempo.

One of those days. A day when coordination, clarity, and momentum come together.

From production to packaging, from Athens to destinations across the region, everything flows forward.

Status in motion.

Reverse Engineering

Reverse Engineering in Practice: From Legacy to Marine-Grade Performance

On the left, an original Leroy Somer electric motor, purpose-built for a YORK compressor. Specs: 325 kW – 3574 RPM – B35 – IP23 – 660V – 60Hz – Frame 315

On the right, a newly manufactured motor by Valiadis Hellenic Motors, the result of a full reverse engineering process. Although visually similar, it is in fact a new machine—engineered from the ground up, not merely replicated.

This version incorporates:
• A custom-designed shaft for compressor integration
• A bespoke flange adapted to precise mounting requirements
• A reengineered winding layout for thermal and operational optimization
• Full upgrade to marine-grade specs, including materials and insulation systems suitable for vessel operation

Reverse engineering, when done responsibly, is not about imitation—it’s about re-understanding. In this case, our task was to interpret a specific historical design, adapt it to current needs, and align it with modern marine standards. The result is a drop-in replacement motor that not only respects the original application but is also technically and structurally enhanced for more demanding conditions.

These projects are not uncommon in the field, especially when legacy equipment must be maintained but original parts are obsolete or no longer supported. Recreating such motors requires access not only to design capability and machining infrastructure but also to the unwritten know-how of how machines behave over time in real-world environments.

We approach such cases not as vendors but as colleagues—engineers supporting engineers—where the goal is continuity of operations, technical clarity, and enduring performance.
